Product description
VECTRA 3D is a veterinary medicinal product in spot-on solution for dogs. It contains dinotefuran, permethrin and pyriproxyfen. The active ingredients spread over the dog’s body surface and act directly on the coat.
It kills fleas and prevents further flea infestations for one month. It also inhibits flea egg hatching and the development of immature stages for two months. It kills and repels ticks, with activity lasting one month against Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus, and up to three weeks against Dermacentor reticulatus.
VECTRA 3D also repels sand flies, mosquitoes and stable flies for one month after application and has insecticidal activity against mosquitoes and stable flies for one month.
Choose the applicator according to the dog’s weight:
- dogs weighing 1.5–4 kg;
- dogs weighing over 4–10 kg;
- dogs weighing over 10–25 kg;
- dogs weighing over 25–40 kg;
- dogs weighing over 40 kg.
Use one complete applicator per dog. Apply only to intact skin, directly along the back, following the application method and number of points indicated in the package leaflet. Treatment may be repeated once a month.
Do not use on cats: permethrin can cause serious and potentially fatal adverse effects in cats. Keep cats away from treated dogs until the application site is completely dry. Use in dogs younger than 7 weeks or weighing less than 1.5 kg is not recommended. Read the package leaflet carefully and consult a veterinary surgeon when necessary.

One millilitre contains 54 mg dinotefuran, 4.84 mg pyriproxyfen and 397 mg permethrin. Use one complete applicator corresponding to the dog’s body weight.

The minimum recommended dose is 6.4 mg/kg dinotefuran, 0.6 mg/kg pyriproxyfen and 46.6 mg/kg permethrin, equivalent to 0.12 ml/kg body weight.
02 Declared excipients
The authorised product information lists N-octyl-2-pyrrolidone and N-methylpyrrolidone among the excipients.
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to any active substance or to any excipient.
03 Parasites and duration of action
Treatment and prevention of infestations by Ctenocephalides felis and Ctenocephalides canis. New flea infestation is prevented for one month.

04 Dosage and application
Route: spot-on use. Apply one complete applicator per dog, only onto intact skin.
Opening: hold the applicator upright with the fingers below the larger disc, then press the smaller disc down until the seal is pierced.
Application by spots: part the coat until the skin is visible and apply slowly along the back, starting between the shoulder blades. Use one application point for dogs weighing 1.5–4 kg, two points for dogs over 4–10 kg, three points for dogs over 10–40 kg and four points for dogs over 40 kg.
Alternative line-on application: part the coat at the base of the tail and apply directly onto the skin in a continuous line along the centre of the back up to the shoulder blades.
Schedule: one treatment prevents infestation for one month and may be repeated once monthly.
05 How the active substances work
Dinotefuran is a contact insecticide that acts on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect nervous system.
Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator that interrupts the flea life cycle by inhibiting egg hatching and the development of immature stages into adults.
Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid with insecticidal, acaricidal and repellent properties.
The three active substances rapidly distribute over the animal’s body surface during the first day and remain measurable in different areas of the coat one month after treatment.
06 Contraindications and animal precautions
Do not use on cats. Cats cannot metabolise permethrin adequately and accidental exposure may cause severe neurological effects, including potentially fatal convulsions.
Keep cats away from treated dogs until the application site is completely dry and prevent cats from grooming treated dogs.
The safety of the product has not been established in dogs younger than 7 weeks or weighing less than 1.5 kg.
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to any active substance or excipient.
Avoid contact with the dog’s eyes. If accidental eye contact occurs, rinse immediately with water.
Apply only onto intact, undamaged skin and seek veterinary advice if dermatitis, persistent itching or skin irritation occurs.
07 Precautions for the person applying it
Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling the product. Wash hands thoroughly and immediately after use.
Avoid skin and eye contact. In case of accidental skin contact, wash immediately with soap and water; rinse the eyes thoroughly with water if exposed.
For presentations intended for dogs weighing over 4 kg, the product must not be administered by pregnant women or women who suspect they may be pregnant. Women of childbearing age should wear gloves when handling it.
Children must not handle treated dogs for at least four hours. Treatment in the evening or before a walk is recommended.
On the day of treatment, dogs should not sleep with their owners, especially children. Dispose of used applicators immediately.
Allow the application site to dry completely before the dog contacts fabrics, furnishings or delicate surfaces.
08 Adverse events
Rare: mild and transient application-site reactions such as redness or itching, local discomfort, behavioural changes such as hyperactivity, vocalisation or anxiety, muscle tremor, lethargy or reduced appetite.
Very rare: temporary wet or spiked appearance of the coat or residue at the application site, vomiting, diarrhoea, unsteady movement, ataxia or convulsions.
Contact a veterinary surgeon if signs persist, worsen or if any other adverse event occurs.
09 Pregnancy, water, storage and disposal
Pregnancy and lactation in dogs: safety has not been established. Use only according to a benefit-risk assessment by the responsible veterinary surgeon.
Interactions: none known.
Water: repeated weekly immersion starting 48 hours after treatment, and shampooing two weeks after treatment, did not affect efficacy in the authorised studies. Frequent shampooing or bathing within 48 hours may reduce the duration of activity.
Environment: treated dogs must not enter surface water for 48 hours. The product is dangerous to fish and other aquatic organisms.
Storage: no special storage conditions are required. Keep out of the sight and reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
Disposal: do not dispose of the product, unused contents or applicators in wastewater. Use the applicable veterinary-medicine collection system.
