Product description
EFFIPRO DUO is a veterinary medicinal product in spot-on solution for cats. It contains fipronil and pyriproxyfen, combining action against adult parasites with control of the flea life cycle.
It is intended for the treatment of flea infestations, alone or in association with ticks. Pyriproxyfen inhibits the development of flea eggs and immature stages, helping reduce environmental reinfestation.
Separate the fur and apply the entire contents of the pipette directly onto the skin, preferably at the base of the neck where the cat cannot lick the product. Do not apply only onto the coat.
Read the package leaflet carefully before use. Do not use in animals for which the product is contraindicated and do not repeat treatment at intervals shorter than those stated. In case of doubts, illness, concurrent treatments or adverse reactions, consult a veterinary surgeon.

01Active substances and dosage
Each 0.5 ml pipette contains 50 mg fipronil and 60 mg pyriproxyfen.
For cats over 6 kg, apply 1 ml, obtainable with two 0.5 ml pipettes.
02Excipients
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to either active substance or to any excipient.
03Parasites and duration
Treatment and prevention of infestations by Ctenocephalides felis. One treatment prevents further infestations for 5 weeks.
Prevents egg development for 12 weeksTreatment of infestations by Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus turanicus.
Persistent acaricidal efficacy for 1 weekThe product does not prevent ticks from attaching. If ticks are already present, not all of them may be killed within 48 hours.
04Dosage and application
Route: spot-on use, for external use only.
Cats weighing 1–6 kg: apply one 0.5 ml pipette.
Cats weighing more than 6–12 kg: apply 1 ml, using two 0.5 ml pipettes.
Application: part the coat at the back of the neck until the skin is visible and empty the pipette evenly at one or two points.
Important: apply only to healthy, dry skin and avoid superficial application onto the coat.
05How the active substances work
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide of the phenylpyrazole family. It acts against adult fleas and ticks.
Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator. It sterilises adult fleas and prevents the development of eggs, larvae and pupae into adult fleas.
After topical application, both active substances are distributed through the cat’s coat.
06Contraindications and precautions
Do not use in rabbits: adverse reactions, including death, may occur.
Safety has not been established in cats younger than 10 weeks or weighing less than 1 kg.
Do not apply to wounds or damaged skin. Avoid contact with the eyes and prevent the cat or other animals from licking the application site.
Do not repeat treatment at intervals shorter than 4 weeks.
Do not use simultaneously with other flea or tick products applied directly to the animal.
During pregnancy or lactation, use only following a veterinarian’s benefit-risk assessment.
07Adverse events
Very rare adverse events include transient application-site reactions such as greasy coat, scaling, hair loss, itching, redness or skin discolouration.
Generalised itching, alopecia, hypersalivation, vomiting, reversible neurological signs and respiratory signs have also been reported very rarely.
Contact a veterinarian if adverse reactions occur or the treatment appears ineffective.
08Storage and disposal
Storage: do not store above 30°C. Store in a dry place.
Keep the blister in the outer carton to protect it from light.
Do not dispose of the product or empty pipettes in wastewater or household waste.
The product must not enter watercourses because it may be dangerous to fish and other aquatic organisms.

Come scelgo il dosaggio corretto?
Per i gatti da 1 a 6 kg si utilizza una pipetta da 0,5 ml. Per i gatti di peso superiore a 6 kg e fino a 12 kg si applica complessivamente 1 ml, utilizzando due pipette da 0,5 ml. Selezionare sempre la variante corretta in base al peso effettivo dell’animale.
Come si applica EFFIPRO DUO?
Separare il pelo nella zona posteriore del collo fino a rendere visibile la cute. Applicare l’intero contenuto della pipetta direttamente sulla pelle, in uno o due punti, evitando di distribuirlo soltanto sul mantello.
Ogni quanto si può ripetere il trattamento?
In assenza di ulteriori studi di sicurezza, il trattamento non deve essere ripetuto a intervalli inferiori a 4 settimane. La frequenza deve comunque essere stabilita in base al rischio di infestazione e alle indicazioni del foglietto illustrativo.
Si può usare nei gattini?
La sicurezza non è stata stabilita nei gatti di età inferiore a 10 settimane o di peso inferiore a 1 kg. In questi casi il prodotto non deve essere utilizzato senza una specifica valutazione del medico veterinario.
Quali precauzioni bisogna seguire?
Non utilizzare nei conigli. Non applicare su ferite o cute danneggiata, evitare il contatto con gli occhi e impedire che il gatto o altri animali lecchino il punto di applicazione. Durante gravidanza o allattamento, oppure in presenza di patologie o terapie concomitanti, consultare il medico veterinario.
