FRONTLINE COMBO is a veterinary medicinal product in spot-on solution for dogs. It contains fipronil and (S)-methoprene, combining action against adult parasites with control of the flea life cycle.
It is used against flea infestations, also when associated with ticks and biting lice. (S)-methoprene inhibits the development of flea eggs, larvae and pupae, helping reduce environmental contamination.
Choose the pack according to the dog’s weight:
- dogs weighing 2–10 kg;
- dogs weighing 10–20 kg;
- dogs weighing 20–40 kg;
- dogs weighing over 40 kg.

01 Active substances and dosage
FRONTLINE COMBO contains fipronil 10% w/v and (S)-methoprene 9% w/v. Use one pipette of the presentation corresponding to the dog’s body weight.

The minimum dose is 6.7 mg/kg body weight of fipronil and 6 mg/kg body weight of (S)-methoprene. Determine body weight as accurately as possible before choosing the pipette.
02 Declared excipients
The package leaflet declares butylhydroxyanisole (E320) and butylhydroxytoluene (E321) in quantities proportional to the pipette size.
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to either active substance or to any excipient.
03 Parasites and duration of action
Treatment of infestations by Ctenocephalides spp. Insecticidal efficacy against new infestations with adult fleas persists for 8 weeks.

04 Dosage and application
Route: spot-on use, for external use only.
Dosage: apply one complete pipette of the size corresponding to the dog’s weight.
Application: remove the pipette from the package and hold it upright. Tap the narrow part, snap back the tip and part the coat at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible.
Administration: place the tip directly on the skin and squeeze the pipette several times until completely empty, applying the contents in one spot.
Repeat treatment: the need and frequency should be based on professional advice, local epidemiology and the animal’s lifestyle. The minimum treatment interval is 4 weeks.
05 How the active substances work
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide that acts against adult fleas, ticks and biting lice present on the animal.
(S)-methoprene is an insect growth regulator. It inhibits the development of flea eggs, larvae and pupae, helping interrupt the flea life cycle and reducing environmental contamination.
The combination therefore acts both on adult parasites and on the immature stages of fleas.
06 Contraindications and precautions
Do not use in puppies under 8 weeks of age.
Do not use in sick animals, animals with systemic disease or fever, or convalescent animals.
Do not use in rabbits: adverse reactions, including death, may occur.
This product is specifically formulated for dogs. Do not use in cats or ferrets because this may cause overdosing.
Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes. Apply where the dog cannot lick the product and prevent animals from licking one another after treatment.
Avoid bathing or immersion in water during the 2 days after application and avoid bathing more frequently than once a week.
Dogs should not swim in watercourses for 2 days after application.
The product may be used during pregnancy and lactation. Do not overdose.
07 Adverse events
Very rare adverse events include transient application-site reactions such as skin discolouration, hair loss, itching or redness.
Generalised itching or hair loss, hypersalivation, vomiting, respiratory signs, increased sensitivity to stimulation, depression and other reversible nervous signs have also been reported very rarely.
If licking occurs, a brief period of hypersalivation may occur, mainly because of the nature of the carrier.
Contact a veterinarian if adverse reactions occur or if the treatment appears ineffective.
08 Storage and disposal
Storage: do not store above 30°C. Store in the original package.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children and do not use after the expiry date shown on the carton.
Do not dispose of the product or empty pipettes in wastewater or household waste.
Fipronil and (S)-methoprene may be dangerous to fish and other aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches.
Use the applicable collection or take-back system and ask a veterinarian or pharmacist how to dispose of unused veterinary medicines.
